Well, the king of Swaziland is due to marry his 11th wife shortly, not only that, but another 2 women are lined up to marry the king shortly. and by 11 wives I mean 11 current wives, he hasn't divorced and remarried 11 times. so, what do you peeps think. for the guys, do you reckon there are advantages to having more than one wife? after all, if your one wife got on your nerves, you could legitimately go and seek comfort with one of the others. although having that many wives is usually a status thing, the more wives you have, the more children they will bear you ... etc, would there not be the possibility that you might fall in love with one of them and the others would be left out? and how about us women, do you think you could be one of many? after all, that too has its advantages, you could say "not tonight dear", and the hubby could go and find his pleasure elsewhere, although could you sleep at night knowing that your husband was per chance next door having sex with another woman? what ya all think...advantages,
I would not want to be in iether type of situation. I can hardley stand Scott from time to time and I'm sure he feels the same about me sonetimes. We both need time apart as well as time together. No, not for me, thank you very much. I've been through one divorce and if anything happens to Scott, that will be it for me. I'd be happy to be on my own. I'm not one of those women who just have to have a man in her life at all times at any cost. As far as living in a house, castle or community with a bunch of other women, their kids, my kids and one man....really, get real, not at all.

I guess polygamous marriage really means something different altogether. Still a social contract, with all the expectations of provision and co-habitation and heir-getting, but not an exclusive and faithful relationship between two people. His wives will all be well-provided for, their children will legally be royalty and have all the according respect, and one of them may get to have the heir to the throne. On the other hand, the king's favour can flit between them at will, they would always be competing for his attentions, fidelity would be a one-sided matter, and I doubt that saying "Not tonight dear" is an option in the royal court of Quasiland. Personally, I think it would be downright degrading. so much domestic pressure and no emotional security, for all the personal security it offers, but by the time you finish considering all the social and cultural differences, it's hard to know what to think.
Fair play to his Highness,I'd love to know where he finds the energy and what's his secret to keeping them all happy...

Hehe. I s'pose when you're king, keeping them happy isn't such an issue. Oh, and I meant Swaziland in the last post, seems to be my day for typos.
Hmm with 11 wives, I'd of thought that was his top priority on the domestic front ..I mean can you imagine being a guy and surrounded by 11 women with PMS! smile...
wo, ok that's fucked up.
Never never never!!! I want my husband to have only me and I want to have only my husband!!! That's really not cool to have 11 wives!!!
*sexy*
well, it would seem his hynis is a vyrile old chap - this next wife-to-be is expecting his 25th child!
Well as long as no one expects me to put up with more than one husband... it's annoying enough dealing with one *shudder*. Just kidding, of course :-).
I s'pose if he's getting all he could possibly want at home, it sort of takes care of having illegitimate kids floating around causing trouble. I wonder what the response would be if one of the wives went looking elsewhere for a bit extra? Surely he can't keep them all satisfied...
hmmm well, in africa, that might not be such a good idea, after all, the aids crisis being what it is, how would it look if someone infected the king and effectively the entire royal court with HIV...
who's to say they are not already infected 1/2 of Southern Africa is infested with Aids and HIV...
well the king invariably only marries virgins.
is there still such a thing! The mind boggles.your man must have his minions searching night and day,I hope they are well paid..
yeah, well it happend in the Porn industry they may be virgins but ya know that isn't the only way!
indeed but there is something inately challenging about sex with a virgin...
apparently, he selects his wives at some tribal dance or ... something along those lines. I don't know a huge amount about swazi culture, but I know in some african cultures they have these seremonies where the girls have to dance, and they are then selected by their perspective suiters. and the girls are invariably virgins... because if they are not, they are not deemed to be worthy of marriage to anyone, so once the man has selected his wife, he will have sex with her, and yes, unfortunately in many instances this means that the girl will be raped, to ensure that she is not fit for any other man, because having been with one partner she is deemed to be used. it's all very primitive really...
That is disgusting! Why can't these people move on from the prehistoric era...Its high time these women stood up and rebelled against this abuse and oppression
because pre historic is exactly how it is. in a lot of africa, people really do live in primitive states. When we see africa on the tv, we see the busy streets, yeh sure we see the refugee camps in ruanda and sudan, but when we see africans living as they do, often we see the big towns where living is civilized. But in so many parts of africa people still live in mud huts with thatched rooves and only the most basic imeanaties. And although there is such thing as television and radio, what they receive on tv/radio is only local news, so they often have no understanding of what is going on in the civilised world. Also, tribal culture is very, very important to them. there are still tribal elders, (the most wise members of the tribe), who are admired and obeyed by the younger members, and you dare not stray from the tribe because then you become outcast. So in reality, a lot of these women really know no better.
I would also like to state though that it's not like that in all of africa, and of course there are success stories, but in a small country like swaziland, this is how it happens. And the majority of the swazi people live in poverty, yet swaziland has a rich gambling industry, and their king lives in splendid wealth. in fact, the UN recently gave money to Swaziland and the king used it to buy himself a flete of cars, one of which was a £500000 mercedes, considering that most of the roads in Swaziland are still dirt roads, I'm sure he has lots of use for it, not.
The guy is a bullying bampot who needs to wake up and the average mercedes is a pile of over priced crap!...
Your right about prehistoric. i know that in the venda culture, they do this dance to honor a firtility god. Forget his name.
I'm way too jealous to put up with a husband with more than myself for a wife.
fuck gthat my man is exactly that mine and mine alone. I dont share men
